Senior NLP engineer

Memora Health has developed the most comprehensive end-to-end platform for analyzing and structuring fragmented health care data. We use artificial intelligence to digitize and automate patient communication workflows, ultimately helping organizations dramatically improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Memora supports a full suite of virtual care systems from automated patient intake and scheduling to telemedicine visits to accelerated billing and documentation in a singular platform, streamlining care delivery. We are building the next-generation operating system for care delivery. Memora Health is backed by some of the largest healthcare venture funds and angels in Silicon Valley and is a very technically-focused team.

We are aggressively growing our team and excited to bring on an experienced NLP engineer. This role requires the ability to design production-level conversational AIs, develop mechanisms for securely processing and standardizing large volumes of patient data, and understand statistical and knowledge-based approaches. Primary responsibilities will include:

• Develop a data processing pipeline for classifying and training an NLP engine on patient-physician conversations
• Design metrics infrastructure to enable continuous improvement of a conversational AI and benchmark performance
• Collaborate with customers to construct customized training sets based on customer needs
• Mentor and train junior engineers
• Report to CTO on product performance and usage statistics

Example Projects:

• Design an engine for processing and standardizing voice, image, and text-based patient instructions
• Leverage several millions of existing patient interactions to construct a robust medical dictionary
• Implement validation tools to allow third-parties to auto-validate accuracy of conversational AI
• Implement contextual understanding for a conversational AI (where do conversations start and end?)

Qualifications (Required):

• Minimum 3 years experience as a NLP engineer
• Significant experience with Python and NLTK
• Strong technical design - you enjoy designing systems from scratch and implementing them at scale
• Master’s degree or equivalent
• Significant research experience in NLP or statistics

Qualifications (Bonus):

• Prior experience working at a startup (<500 employees)
• Experience developing and commercially launching NLP pipelines
• Prior experience in and/or affinity to healthcare
